Studio Job at Carpenters Workshop Gallery
18th March - 20th May '10
Carpenters Workshop Gallery
Albemarle Street, London
On March 18th, Carpenters Workshop Gallery in London will open a show of new work by renowned design team Studio Job. The five pieces on display are a collaboration between the gallery and designers, and they each explore the dialogue between the natural and artificial world.
The ‘Industry’ series, as this collection is called, is comprised of maple and rosewood pieces intricately inlaid with the white silhouettes of a mixture of animals, insects, tools of industrial building, and weaponry. New light-works by Studio Job will also be on display that further develop the dialogue of the collection.
These works are representative of Studio Job’s signature style, and strikingly reminiscent of the design team’s now iconic ‘Perished’ series. While it is fantastic to see a design team establish a visual vocabulary that is so completely their own, it would be interesting to see Studio Job branch out a bit more to develop their ouevre further.
