Now on view at the R 20th Century Gallery in New York City is an exhibition of contemporary Korean design. This show is presented in conjunction with Gallery Seomi in Seoul, Korea and it marks the Western debut for many of the included designers.
The selection on view introduces a generation of artists and designers whose work establishes a new visual vocabulary that combines venerate Korean aesthetic traditions, iconography and techniques with fresh, contemporary ideas and forms.
The exhibition includes a variety of works ranging from small ceramics to large-scale sculpted furniture in wood, metal, and stone. Many of the works on view are never-before-seen. The list of exhibitors includes Byung-Hoon Choi, Hun-Chung Lee, Dae-Sup Kwon, Zong-Sun Bahk, and Jin Jang.
