Symposium: Furniture in the 20th Century

On March 6th, Christopher Wilk, Keeper of the V&A’s Furniture Textiles & Fashion Department will chair an international conference at the museum’s Sackler Centre that will approach seemingly well-known topics of 20th century design from entirely new perspectives, based on new research.
Speakers will discuss and re-evaluate topics such as the Bauhaus, post-war Italian design, and major figures such as Marcel Breuer, Gio Ponti , and Robert Venturi among others. Speakers will also bring to light lesser known but significant work from early 20th-century Hungary, the Netherlands, and 1930s Turkey.
