“Le Fabuleux Destin du Quotidien”
7th February - 23rd May ’10
Musée des Arts Contemporains
Grand-Hornu Site, Belgium
On the 7th of February, the Musée des Arts Contemporains (MAC) will open its first joint exhibition with the Grand-Hornu site. The exhibition entitled “Le Fabuleux Destin du Quotidien” (“The Fabulous Destiny of the Quotidian”) is curated by Veerie Wenes and François Foulon, and it focuses on the complex relationship between artists and designers.
The exhibition features a range of different objects created by both artists and designers, but there is no hierarchy established between them in the gallery space. In this way, the show examines the difficulty one can often have in classifying certain pieces into traditional categories of art or design, and the event intends to go beyond the differences between the two disciplines to show what unites them.
The exhibition will feature objects by Bram Boo, Andrea Branzi, Wim Delvoye, Marti Guixe, Michel Francois, Lieve Van Stappen, among others.
