THE RESULTS ARE IN: Wright’s Sale of Important Design

Wright’s latest sale of Important Design finished with decent, but fairly unimpressive results this week selling only 204 of their available 404 lots for a total of $2,463,503 including the buyer’s premium.
The top earner of the day was the DB6 Coupe Aston Martin which brought in $122,500 (pre-sale estimate $100,000-$125,000). The second highest was Jean Prouvé’s ‘Marcoule’ banquette, which earned double its high estimate at $110,500 (pre-sale estimate $30,000-$50,000). Rounding out the top three was Alberto Giacometti’s ‘Osselet’ floor lamp which sold for comfortably within its estimate at $79,300 (pre-sale estimate $70,000-$90,000).
Other highlights include Shiro Kuramata’ ‘Feather Stool’, which sold for $56,250 (pre-sale estimate $50,000-$70,000), and the Gio Ponti ‘Diamond’ sofa and pair of lounge chairs from the Villa Goldschmidt, Buenos Aires which each sold for $68,500 (pre-sale estimates for both lots $50,000-$70,000). Generally, the lots that sold in this sale, went for between $5,000-$20,000.
