Inside Maxxi: A Look at Zaha Hadid’s Latest Architectural Success
Slideshow and Article by Nicolai Ouroussoff for the International Herald Tribune
Take a look inside the recently unveiled Maxxi museum of contemporary art designed by Zaha Hadid. Located on the outskirts of Rome, the new museum gives a modern jolt to the eternal city.
Maxxi’s doors were opened for the first time last weekend for a private architectural preview. The galleries are currently empty and will remain so until the official inauguration of the building in the spring of 2010 when the museum will hold its first exhibition. This offered the press the rare opportunity to appreciate the architectural space on its own.
In his article Ouroussoff discusses the building’s sensual lines, ultra modern aesthetic, and speculates what the great popes of the past would have thought of the design.
