'Less and More: The Design Ethos of Dieter Rams'
18th November '09 - 7th March '10
The Design Museum
Shad Thames, London
Opening next week, on the 18th of November at the Design Museum in London is ‘Less and More: The Design Ethos of Dieter Rams’. This show will be the first UK retrospective in over 12 years to focus on Rams’ iconic 40 year career.
From 1955 to 1995, Dieter Rams designed furniture for Vitsoe, as well as over 500 products for the German electronics manufacturer Braun. The exhibition at the Design Museum will showcase landmark designs from both of these endeavors in order to examine how Rams’ particular design ethos challenged perceptions of domestic design and made a lasting impact on today’s design landscape.
Alongside the design pieces on display there will also be footage of specially commissioned interviews with Dieter Rams’ contemporaries including Jonathon Ive, Jasper Morrison, Sam Hecht and Naoto Fukasawa.
