'Fruit & Flowers' at the Rove
15th October - 23rd December '09
The Rove Gallery, London
Now on show at the Rove Gallery in London is an exhibition of art and design entitled ‘Fruit and Flowers’ that focuses on contemporary society as much as it does on contemporary aesthetics.
The show examines the return to quality and value in art and design that has become increasingly prevalent in the wake of the current recession. According to those at the Rove, what we are seeing in the world of art and design is a return to conservative values. ‘Nowadays, it’s going be more bowls of fruit and flowers rather than art intended to provoke, a return to traditional notion of beauty and quality.’ ‘Fruit and Flowers’ is an interesting cross-section of contemporary trends that offers insight into the current state of design.
The exhibit showcases a wide range of pieces from paintings to furniture, including the work of such notable designers as Zaha Hadid, Arik Levy, Tom Dixon, and Max Lamb, among many others.
