Grassworks by Jair Straschnow

The Aram Gallery
110 Drury Lane, London
For this year’s London Design Festival The Aram Gallery presents Grassworks by Jair Straschnow.
Made from Bamboo laminate sheets, the Grassworks collection represents a series of experiments in self-assembly furniture systems which are simple, intelligent, beautiful, space-saving and wholly sustainable.
Featuring 14 flat pack prototypes, Straschnow’s works are an incredible example of craftsmanship and joinery with each piece boasting an ingenious interlocking system of component parts, which he designed in order to assemble the works with dry mechanical fastening rather than glue and screws.
With his obsession for things that fold, click into place and fit together with a minimum amount of glue or fixings, Straschnow has succeeded in creating an inspiring collection of prototypes which solidify the notion that sustainable design can be both aesthetically pleasing, practical and green.
