LAST CHANCE SHOW - Telling Tales: Fantasy and Fear in Contemporary Design
14th July - 18th October '09
Victoria & Albert Museum
Cromwell Road, London
Sunday will mark the final day of 'Telling Tales'at the V&A. The exhibition, which has been installed since July, explores the recent trend among European designers for unique or limited edition pieces that push the boundaries between art and design. The show has had great success over the past few months and if you haven't had a chance to see it yet you should definitely take advantage of these final days.
Featuring work by a new generation of international designers, including Tord Boontje, Maarten Baas, Wieki Somers, Jurgen Bey and Studio Job, the exhibition explores the narrative potential of objects, connecting the past and present.
Inspired by the spirit of story-telling, each designer tells a tale through their use of decorative devices, historical allusions or choice of materials, sharing common themes such as fantasy, parody and a concern with mortality.
The exhibition is Free to all, but it is suggested that you book your tickets in advance.
