LAST CHANCE: Ron Gilad Spaces ETC./ An Exercise In Utility
29th April - 09th May ’09
Wright
1440 West Hubbard, Chicago Illinois
For his first exhibition at Wright, Ron Gilad presents his latest body of work.
Encompassing objects that question our relationship with the architectural environments that define our immediate surroundings, the exhibition features a broad range of work from lamps fashioned from slender white pedestals covered with silk lamp-shades to ashtrays that resemble modernist houses.
Fascinated with philosophizing about the common objects we live with, Gilad’s works combine material wit with aesthetic play; it sits on the fat, delicious line between the abstract and the functional.
