Chairs for The Dysfunctional

For this year’s Salone Del Mobile in Milan, Alice Wang will exhibit her latest project ‘Chairs for The Dysfunctional’, comprising a collection of chairs illustrating the various sitting habits exemplified by individuals within our society.
Do you sit on all four legs, or just two? Can you sit still or are you continuously shaking your leg? Whatever your sitting vise, Wang has devised a chair for you.
From the 'Silent Farter' which amplifies a silent fart, to the 'Equality Seeker' (based on research findings that suggests taller people are more likely to be successful in life), which offers every user, no matter their height, the chance to sit at the world average sitting height of 140cm, Wang's chairs are a clever answer to our changing norms.
The only question remains, Will these chairs become props that normalize the unwelcomed habits? or will they act as therapy to ‘cure’ one’s syndromes?
I guess we will just have to wait and see.
