Sebastian + Barquet
544 West 24th Street, New York
In honour of George Nakashima’s legacy of excellent design, Sebastian + Barquet present an exhibition devoted to his work.
One of the most significant craftsmen of the American modernist era, Nakashima is known for his exceptional use of wood and his belief in the integrity of his material and design.
Having executed furniture from 1941 to 1990, the show features pieces selected from the full spectrum of his career. Included in the exhibition are mass-produced as well as unique designs, ranging from an early M10 coffee table of 1947 produced by Knoll and to a commission Conoid bench of 1987.
