Save A Product For 1 Euro
15th November - 29th November '08
Comédie de Saint-Étienne
7 rue Émile Loubet, Saint-Étienne, France
As a fringe exhibtion for this year's International Design Biennale in Saint-Étienne, 5.5 designers will host an exhibition proving that a batched object is not necessarily destined for the dump.
One morning, only 15 days before the press launch of their new multicoloured melamine tableware collection, 5.5 were informed, by the commissioning company, of an unexpected change in plans, meaning there was to be an immediate stop put on the commercialization of the range.
The 45,000 products that had been fabricated, packaged and labeled were now in limbo waiting their inevitable destruction.
As drastic times call for drastic measures 5.5 bought up the stock as a means to insure that the life of these products would go on.
An exceptional rescue mission has now taken shape inviting visitors to come save an object for the cost of 1 Euro. So, if you are one of the lucky one's in Saint-Étienne for the Biennale be sure to swing by 5.5's exhibition and SAVE A PRODUCT.
