Second Nature : Tokujin Yoshioka
17th October '08 - 18th January '09
21_21 Design Sight
Roppongi, Tokyo
Taking place at '21_21 Design Sight' this month, is 'Second Nature', an exhibition curated by, and featuring works from Tokujin Yoshioka.
The exhibition will present Yoshioka's recent work 'Venus', an extraordinary collection that explores the potential of creating objects from natural crystal.
By installing four large water tanks containing fibre structures submerged in water, visitors to the exhibition will be able to watch the process of objects growing before their own eyes. The results of which will form a series of exploratory furniture, not inspired by or aiming to imitate nature, but entirely made and manufactured from organic material.
Exhibiting alongside Yoshioka will be seven invited designers including Ross Lovegrove and the Campana Brothers, all of whose work will address the possibilities of organically driven design and production.
