Replex table is one of the many innovative designs to come out of Oormerk, the Netherlands based design studio comprising Ruud van Hemert and Stijn van Oorschot.
Reflecting McDonough and Braungart’s mantra, Waste = Food, the table is a direct response to our scarcity of resources and need to embrace the ideals of cradle to cradle design.
The table itself was created using a new material manufactured from disassembled pieces of vintage furniture glued together forming a solid block.
The resulting raw material was then cut into sections and assembled into a table, a process which leaves the patina from the original pieces intact, forming a new language embedded with old memories.
Replex will be exhibited at Talent 2008, Designhuis’ exhibition as part of Dutch Design Week. October 18th - 26th, 2008.
