Haptica: Winner of the Spark! Award

Recent Industrial design graduate David Chavez has received the ultimate Spark! Award for his moveable Braille timepiece 'Haptica'.

The concept piece designed to bring precision and discretion to the visually impaired when reading the time, is the second design award to be picked up by Chavez this year.

The case which houses the watch movement connects to a series of Braille dials providing the necessary synchronization to display the time read out.

Unlike the host of digital watches available on the market for the same purpose, 'Haptica's' simple and ergonomic design is the first solution that doesn't employ audio as the way of relaying information.

Although we don't typically focus on industrial design at DeTank, due to the relevance of David Chavez's socially sustainable and emotionally driven design, we thought it appropriate to celebrate this one-off piece.
