Design Event 08 - A Celebration of Design Across the North East

9th October - 26th October 2008

Now in its fourth consecutive year, Design Event 08 will take over the North East of England this month with a range of design related exhibitions, talks and workshops.

The events which fall under the theme of 'Northern Design' will form an exploration of people, cultures and landscapes covering all aspects of the design field.

Among the highlights are, 'Urban Translation' - an alternative architectural tour of Sunderland, 'Design Event Mart' - a regional market selling contemporary design pieces, 'James Rigler' - a collection of installations, sculptures and architectural ceramics, and 'Designed and Made' - a series of workshops from designers living and working in Scandinavian countries.

The festival will span across Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, Washington and Middlesborough presenting the North East as a well deserved hotbed for British design talent.
