Fredrik Mattson
RGB is Swedish designer, Fredrik Mattson's latest work for design team Zero. Presented as a floor, table and pendant fixture, the line echoes the young designer's philosophy that objects should be well crafted, timely and fun.
The round, gold-plated balls that make up the fixtures, delight in the perfect symmetry and suppleness of the sphere. Stacked and laquered with a steel base, the colourful orbs once again demonstrate the importance Mattson gives to quality of materials and their consequent longevity.
Having originally trained in carpentry, Mattson gained a master in design at Konstfack University of Arts, Craft and Design, in Stockholm. Since 2002, he has been running his own design company producing mainly furniture, most of which has been honoured with prizes and awards, and most recently won Mattson the 'Designer of the year' award in Sweden, 2007.
