Visitors of the Droog Website have chosen ‘Droog Aalto’ by Jan Ctvrtnik as the winning proposal for the Climate Competition.
While altering Alvar Aalto’s iconic design, which was based on the outline of a Finnish Lake, Ctvrtnik has created a visual reference point for the impacts of global warming.
The not-so-subtle modifications from Aalto’s original form, evidenced in Ctvrtnik’s design, suggest how the lake’s shape might be affected due to climate changes in the region.
With 32% of the votes, and a title aptly meaning ‘Dry’ in Dutch, one can hope that maybe Ctvrtnik’s design will have a little impact of its own.
