Collective Design Fair 3.0
May 13 - 17 '15
The third edition of Collective Design’s fair will open to the public May 13 through 17 at Skylight Clarkson Sq in West Soho, as part of NYCxDesign. The 2015 fair will feature an international roster of returning and first-time exhibitors, representing established and emerging design talents from Copenhagen, Madrid, Milan, Paris, New York, and Oslo, among other creative capitals.
The thoughtfully-curated booths will be presented alongside a diverse range of special exhibitions, installations, and pop-ups, including Collective Influence, which highlights the exceptional work of internationally-acclaimed lighting designer Ingo Maurer. Together, the presentations showcase design innovation and thinking from the start of the 20th century to today.
Collective Design has worked with the The Noguchi Museum to create a site-specific installation at the 2015 fair, inspired by—and responding to—the fair’s 60,000-square-foot industrial space in West Soho, Skylight Clarkson Sq. The installation will draw on the building’s architectural elements to express Isamu Noguchi’s distinctive spatial concepts and signature sculptural forms.
Collective Design brings together a rich diversity of global design voices, highlighting both emerging talents and design icons. The Noguchi Museum’s installation is an ideal addition to the fair’s international roster of special installations. Isamu Noguchi understood the power of design to activate a space, and the installation will speak to his legacy of innovation and the continued significance of his work, said Steven Learner, founder and creative director, Collective Design. Similarly, the presentation of the Le Corbusier’s tapestry and Decades of Design will give visitors the rare opportunity to contextualize these works from legendary influencers within the larger story of 20th-century and contemporary design, including the most up-and-coming designers asserting themselves today.
