Wright is delighted to present Shiro Kuramata and Hiroshi Sugimoto: Works from the Absent Past. This auction and exhibition celebrates two of the most creative minds of the 20th century, and will be presented entirely in New York.
Works from the Absent Past features furniture designed by Kuramata, including works from his most important commissions such as the Esprit House and Laputa Restaurant in Tokyo. Other limited edition and commissioned designs by Kuramata, such as a dining table created for his friend and collaborator, Tamotsu Yagi. Presented alongside these important designs are small and large format Seascapes by the celebrated photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto.
Works from the Absent Past can be previewed at 980 Madison Avenue beginning January 6, 2015. All lots will be featured in a dedicated catalog designed in collaboration with Tamotsu Yagi, who will act as creative director for this exhibition. All lots will be sold at auction in Chicago on January 29, 2015 at 12 pm CT.
