'Stacked Objects' by Emiel Remmelts
The objects in the shelving are used for creating a dynamic composition, comparable to the method of creating a collage.
Besides using objects like bricks which are widely available I also picked up one-off objects from flea markets, charity shops and building sites. That way I'm forced to make new compositions with each shelf. Each composition is unique and defines the overall aesthetic of the furniture.
An ash wood frame forms one side of each piece, whilst the shelves require objects to be placed on the other side to hold them in position.
From the designer:
When designing a product I use the construction, joints and materials as a start. This defines the design of my products. With this project the Russion architect and graphic designer El Lissitzky had great influence. For him there is no difference between 2D and 3D work.
