Before & After
17th July - 21st July '08
Eat Green Design
39 Little Collins Street, Melbourne, Australia
Forming the interior elements of the temporary restaurant and design space, Eat Green Design, Before and After is an exhibition which aims to bring together a range of individual perspectives on the notion of re-design with the hopes of creating an ongoing dialogue surrounding the issues of sustainability.
Based on a brief which called for designers to transform the essential tools of dining - plates, cutlery and seating - in order to revitalise and imbue them with new validity through reinterpretation, development and refinement, the exhibition challenges our perception of the value of design, commenting on the throw-away mentality of modern day culture.
To demonstrate this within a commercial context, the Before & After objects will be exhibited and sold at the Eat Green Design temporary restaurant and design space.
