The Edelkoort Design Collection
6th September - 27th October '13
Institut Neerlandais, Paris
The outstanding presence of Li Edelkoort on the contemporary design scene is reformulated and completed under the uncovered light of the design collector.
The trend forecaster and actual Design Days Dubai Patron’s engagement is explored through the unusually intimate lens of personal inclination, exposing the ‘behind the scenes’ of a ruling taste.
For the first time the critic’s private acquisitions will be visible to the broader public and specifically in the private salons of the Parisian Institut Neerlandais.
The collection comprises a body of works spanning from the beginning of the 21st century to the present day, featuring pieces from leading contemporary Dutch designers as well as international relevant names, that rarely exhibited in France.
Outstanding in the selection are Nacho Carbonell’s graduate project Pump It Up, a natural pigment edition of Clay furniture by Maarten Baas, a charred baby grand piano, the first in a series by the same designer for his Smoke collection, the first hand-blown Glassworks by Dick van Hoff, a TransPlastic armchair by Fernando & Humberto Campana, works from the series Farm by Studio Job and 7 Pots / 3 Centuries / 2 Materials by Hella Jongerius.
Li Edelkoort critically recorded through her collection the transformations that have interested the post-millenium era and the explorations of technology that have determined the new ground-breaking design generation, often dedicating a parallel attention and negotiating with craft and material values.
