A New Energy for London: Free Tours of Battersea Power Station
19th July '08, 10am - 6pm
Battersea Power Station, Gate 2
188 Kirtling Street, London
This Saturday sees the derelict Battersea Power Station opening its (partial) doors once again, for the second of the two additional tours added for the London Festival of Architecture.
In the ten days since the programme of public consultation was put into place on a £4bn development masterplan to save the iconic power station, more than 2,500 people have visited the power station and the exhibition explaining the proposals for this venture.
A free, self-guided walking tour has been set up for adults and
children to explore the main Boiler House and Turbine Hall of the Power
Station.
Rob Tincknell, Managing Director of Treasury Holdings UK, states: “The public’s response has been overwhelming and just shows how much interest there is in this building and our plans to bring it back to life. The views expressed by visitors have also been very encouraging with more than 70 per cent telling us that they approved of our proposals for the power station and surrounding area. We look forward to welcoming many more people to the site.”
