Having just scooped up London’s Business Design Centre’s New Designer of the Year award, there is no need to go into any great detail about why DeTank feels this Ravensbourne College product design student is one to keep your eye on.
Our particular favourite is Frommeld’s ‘Adapt’ shelving system, an ingenious take on your good old garden-variety.
Consisting of a rigid metal frame structure, loose timber slats, bookends and optional hooks, this striking yet simple shelving system is an enormously versatile piece of flat pack furniture. Having been designed for spontaneity and adaptability, and inspired by a contour gauge, the ‘Adapt’ shelving system can be adjusted to fit virtually any scenario.
As described by the judges at the Business Design Centre, Frommeld’s “ideas were imaginative, his materials satisfyingly hi-tech, and his execution had real charm - a raw design performance." Well, we would certainly have to agree with that.
