Buckminster Fuller: Starting with the Universe
26th June - 21st September '08
Whitney Museum of American Art
945 Madison Avenue at 75th Street, New York, NY
The Whitney Museum of American Art in association with the Department of Special Collections of the Stanford University Libraries present an exhibition celebrating the results of more than five decades of Buckminster Fuller’s (1895-1983) life’s work.
As one of the great American visionaries of the 20th century, Fuller’s theories and innovations traversed the worlds of architecture, visual art, literature, mathematics, molecular biology, and environmental science and have had a deep impact on all of those fields.
His integrated approach toward the design and technology of housing, transportation, cartography, and communication will be displayed throughout the exhibition, much of it for the first time.
