102 Eaton Square, London, SW1
The Mexican Embassy presents a talk by Miquel Adria, to coincide with their current exhibition MaXICO: Architectures from Mexico, which is currently on show at RIBA.
As a leading architect and critic from Mexico, Miguel Adria will discuss the current state of architecture in Mexico offering a fascinating insight into this dynamic, complex and often contradictory architectural scene.
Adria is the director of the international architecture magazine Arquine and author of many books on Mexican architecture,
mAxico: Architectures from Mexico is an exhibition presenting architecture in its broader definition, expressed in experimental ways and through new ideas, which are tested and explored through the commissioned work exhibited.
A group of up-and-coming Mexican architects and designers - Sebastián Córdova, Hierve Diseñeria, Re-CURSO Studio, and Ariel Rojo - will present their ideas and thoughts to provide a fascinating insight into contemporary Mexican architecture.
The commissioned pieces, rather than presenting isolated buildings, will reveal new essences of architecture, ideas, utopias, desires and fragments of visions that are meaningful to the work of these practices and are not indifferent to what happens to the cities’ inhabitants.
The exhibition runs from 20 June - 19 July '08
66 Portland Place, Florence Hall, London W1B 1AD
