Philipp Mainzer’s designs centre around the main theme of folding and joining sheets of DuPont™ Corian® together. Featuring the inherently durable qualities of the material, simple geometric forms and shapes generate different objects that have a functional use while maintaining sculptural qualities.
Inspired by the principles of origami, sheets of DuPont™ Corian® are combined to create objects, allowing for a variety of perspectives. Displaying a playful treatment of reduced geometric forms and shapes, characteristic of e15 designs, the resulting ten abstract objects can simultaneously be used as side and coffee tables.
Three new shades of grey were used to bring out the subtle differences among those new shades and are contrasted by other new, more intense colours. For the presentation the objects are arranged in random stacks to create a distinctly architectural installation, emphasizing material and form, while interacting with the space.
