'Wood Ring' by Chris Kabel at Gallery Kreo

From March 8th through May 2nd 2012 Gallery Kreo will present Chris Kabel's 'Wood Ring.' Kabel's bench is created by masterly slicing one long beam then bending it to form a continuous circle.
From the designer:
A tall tree is felled and cut to become one very long beam. This beam is cut into ninety carefully shaped slices that together form a wooden circle, a bench.
The wood grain that once continued all along the tree from its root to its top has come full circle. Stepping into the circle, one feels embraced by this giant organism. The circular bench is a place for free-flowing thoughts that can be shared without hesitation.
It's a bit like sharing a bath in the sauna, but then without having to get wet or naked.
