Arms Up Chair Series
by Herald Ureña
Industrial Design intern Herald Ureña of Cerebrum Design in Bangkok, Thailand has created the 'Arms Up Chair Series', a triptych of chairs based around mannerisms people act out when sitting.
The chairs range from functional and comfortable to artistic and conceptual for statement purposes. An artistic approach to this project was carried over from the conceptual thinking to 3D modeling and the drawings created to accompany the project.
Model AUSC
This chair makes a statement to the design intention by having a simple character and design that doesn’t distract form the concept. The backrest is extended to accommodate the arms.
Model AUHC-1
The intention of this chair is to create a holistic feel within a pocket of a room. The design is more directed to a home environment. The backrest form of this chair connects it to the accompanying stand that is meant to hold books or a plant.
Model AULC-1
This chair is based around the way people put their arms up when sitting on the corner of a couch. It is a blend of a couch mixed with a lounge chair.
