Change the Record by Paul Cocksedge

Note: this event has been cancelled, the speakers will be available to purchase later in the fall.
Out with the old in with the new.
On Saturday the 27th of August, Paul Cocksedge will be at the Round House in Camden transforming 12" vinyl records into elegant loudspeakers used to amplify sound from smartphones.
This event is a part of Ron Arad's Curtain Call, an interactive installation for the Roundhouse as part of Bloomberg Summer.
To take part in the project Cocksedge requests that you bring an old record to be repurpused live in a performance to music.
Of course, there are still many people collecting records. In a recent article in the Guardian, Behind the music: Should the music industry put digital first?, journalist Sara Lee points out ' the Entertainment Retailers Association analysis of Official Charts Company data shows vinyl sales are up by 55% percent in the first half of 2011.'
So don't give up your vinyl collection too fast. Instead, breath new life into a scratched vinyl by bringing it to the event.
