Galerie Gosserez is presenting "l'Etreinte" by Elise Gabriel, a series of furniture (table, chair and lights) whose main theme is researching Zelfo, a new material composed of cellulose* whose great propensity to reduce, to model itself on curvilinear shapes and to embrace the material, allows it to fit tightly round and to assemble together the elements on which it dries.
The French Trade Commission in the UK, in partnership with Rabih Hage, the famous architect and interior designer, will present 15 bespoke craftsmen from France at the Design Forum – a unique event to be held at Chandos House, in Central London, between 9.30am and 6.30pm on 15 March 2011. Members of the press are invited to visit the event in the company of Rabih Hage and his fellow designers.
Joy of Living is a charity project that unites over 100 leading lights in the design community to galvanise support for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres. Design author Max Fraser has set the challenge to a cross-section of new and established UK designers to create a desirable artwork that expresses the Joy of Living – all starting from a simple sheet of A4 graph paper.
Designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby won an international competitive tender launched last year by LOCOG and the Design Council to create the Torch, along with the celebration cauldrons to be used at the lunchtime stops and evening celebrations during the Olympic Torch Relay.
